Induction Programme for Judicial Commissioners was held on 25th-28th January 2022

"Induction Programme for Judicial Commissioners" was held on 25th-28th January 2022 (Tuesday-Friday) at the Conference Hall, Palace of Justice, Putrajaya. This programme aimed to expose the participants to the scope and areas of work and best practices that must be adhered to when fulfilling their duties and responsibilities as Judicial Commissioners. This programme was the first course organized by the Judicial Academy in 2022, following the new norms and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to control the spread of COVID-19.

A total of 10 candidates of Judicial Commissioners attended this course, including Encik Azizan bin Md. Arshad, Puan Narkunavathy a/p Sundareson, Puan Noor Ruwena binti Md. Nurdin, Puan Jamhirah binti Ali, Puan Rozi binti Bainon, Puan Noor Hayati binti Haji Mat, Encik Azlan bin Sulaiman, Encik Kenneth Yoong Ken Chinson St. James, Encik Leong Wai Hong, dan Encik Noor Hisham bin Ismail.

The Right Honourable Tun Tengku Maimun binti Tuan Mat, Chief Justice of Malaysia, began the course by delivering her speech, followed by a course briefing by The Honourable Datuk Seri Haji Mohd Zawawi bin Salleh, the Federal Court Judge and the Chairman of the Training Committee, Judicial Academy Malaysia. This four-day course was conducted in lectures and was followed by a question and answer session. A total of 12 topics were presented by senior judges entitled "Judges' Code of Ethics", "Salient Features of the Rules of Court 2012", "Transition to the Bench", "Virtual Hearing", "Joint Session with Chief Judge of Malaya and Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak", "Contempt Proceedings", "When to Recuse", "How to Conduct Criminal Trials", "How to Read Statutes", "Managing Procrastination and Competing Priorities", "Case Management, Conducting Civil Trials and Court-Annexed Mediation", and "Judgement Writing Workshop". Lectures entitled "e-Court System and e-Review", and "Salary, Allowance and Benefits for Judges" were presented by officers from the Office of the Chief Registrar, Federal Court of Malaysia. The Right Honourable Tun Tengku Maimun binti Tuan Mat, Chief Justice of Malaysia, had presented certificates to the participants on the last day of the course.
