  • Appointment New Chief Justice, President of The Court of Appeal, and Chief Judge of the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak 11 July 2018

    Ceremony to Receive letter of Appointment from His Majesty the Yang Di Pertuan Agong was held on 11 July 2018 at the National Palace. The ceremony was then followed by the Swearing-In and Allegiance by Chief Justice of The Federal Court in front of Majesty the Yang Di Pertuan Agong.

    The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' Abdul Rahman bin Sebli was born on 25 January 1959 in Sarawak. The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' obtained his Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) from the University of Malaya in 1983. Upon graduation, The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' joined the Judicial and Legal Service of Malaysia in December 1983.

    Prior to The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato's elevation to the High Court of Malaya, The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' had served in various capacities in the Judicial and Legal Departments of the Government of Malaysia. Among the notable posts, The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' held were Deputy Public Prosecutor to the state of Sarawak, Pahang, Kelantan, Kuala Lumpur, Senior Federal Counsel at the Sarawak State Attorney-General’s Chambers, Sessions Court Judge of Kota Kinabalu and Miri, Legal Advisor to the State of Pahang and Director of Legal Division at the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

    On 15 September 2008, The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' was appointed as Judicial Commissioner. On 9 August 2010, The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' was elevated to the position of a Judge of the High Court of Malaya. The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' served at the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak at Kota Kinabalu and also in the High Court of Malaya at Shah Alam and Johor Bahru until The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' elevation to the Court of Appeal. The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' was elevated to the Court of Appeal on 12 September 2014.

    On 8 August 2019, The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' was elevated to the position of a Judge of the Federal Court, and on 17 January 2023, The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' was appointed as the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak.

    In recognition of The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato's service to the State of Pahang, The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' has conferred the award of Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (D.I.M.P) which carries the honorific title Dato’ by Sultan of Pahang in 2003. The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' has conferred the award of Darjah Kebesaran Panglima Setia Mahkota (P.S.M) which carries the honorific title Tan Sri by His Majesty the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong in 2023.

    The Right Honourable Tan Sri Dato' is married to YBhg. Puan Sri Datin Sarbanun binti Mokhtar is blessed with seven children.

    Yang Amat Arif Tan Sri Dato’ Abdul Rahman bin Sebli telah dilahirkan di Sarawak pada 25 Januari 1959. Yang Amat Arif Tan Sri Dato’ telah lulus dalam bidang pengajian undang-undang dengan memperolehi Ijazah Sarjana Muda Undang-Undang (Kepujian) dari Universiti Malaya pada tahun 1983. Setelah tamat pengajian Yang Amat Arif Tan Sri Dato’ menyertai Perkhidmatan Kehakiman dan Perundangan Malaysia pada Disember 1983.

    Sebelum Yang Amat Arif Tan Sri Dato’ dilantik untuk menyertai Badan Kehakiman Malaysia, Yang Amat Arif Tan Sri Dato’ telah memegang pelbagai jawatan di dalam Kerajaan. Antara jawatan penting yang disandang oleh Yang Amat Arif Tan Sri Dato’ ialah Timbalan Pendakwa Raya Negeri Sarawak, Pahang, Kelantan, Kuala Lumpur, Peguam Kanan Persekutuan di Jabatan Peguam Negara Negeri Sarawak, Hakim Mahkamah Sesyen Kota Kinabalu dan Miri, Penasihat Undang-undang Negeri Pahang dan Pengarah Bahagian Perundangan di Jabatan Kastam Diraja Malaysia.

    Pada 15 September 2008, Yang Amat Arif Tan Sri Dato’ telah dilantik sebagai Pesuruhjaya Kehakiman. Pada 9 Ogos 2010, Yang Amat Arif Tan Sri Dato’ telah dilantik sebagai Hakim Mahkamah Tinggi Malaya. Yang Amat Arif Tan Sri Dato’ telah berkhidmat di Mahkamah Tinggi Sabah dan Sarawak di Kota Kinabalu, Mahkamah Tinggi Malaya di Shah Alam dan Johor Bahru sehinggalah Yang Amat Arif Tan Sri Dato’ dilantik sebagai Hakim Mahkamah Rayuan pada 12 September 2014.

    Pada 8 Ogos 2019, Yang Amat Arif Tan Sri Dato’ telah dilantik sebagai Hakim Mahkamah Persekutuan dan pada 17 Januari 2023 Yang Amat Arif dilantik sebagai Hakim Besar Sabah dan Sarawak.

    Pada tahun 2003 sebagai menghargai jasa bakti Yang Amat Arif Tan Sri Dato’ kepada Negeri Pahang, Yang Amat Arif Dato’ telah dianugerahkan Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (D.I.M.P) yang membawa gelaran Dato’ oleh Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Pahang pada tahun 2003. Yang Amat Arif Tan Sri Dato' telah dianugerahkan Darjah Kebesaran Panglima Setia Mahkot (P.S.M) yang membawa gelaran Tan Sri oleh Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Petuan Agong pada tahun 2023.

    Yang Amat Arif Tan Sri Dato’ telah berkahwin dengan YBhg. Puan Sri Datin Sarbanun binti Mokhtar dan dikurniakan tujuh orang anak.
