The "Working Visit of the Judiciary to the Forensic Laboratory of the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) 2024" was held on 7th October 2024 at the RMP College and the Forensic Laboratory of the RMP, Cheras, Selangor. This working visit aimed to expose the members of the Judiciary to the roles and functions of the Forensic Laboratory of the RMP.
A total of 40 participants attended this working visit consisted of The Right Honourable Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abang Iskandar bin Abang Hashim, President of the Court of Appeal; The Right Honourable Tan Sri Abdul Rahman bin Sebli, Chief Judge of the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak; seven Federal Court Judges; eight Judges of the Court of Appeal; and 23 High Court Judges.
The half-day working visit began with an opening remarks by IG Tan Sri Razarudin bin Husain, Inspector General of Police and a reply remarks by The Honourable Dato’ Sri Hasnah binti Dato’ Mohammed Hashim, the Federal Court Judge cum the Chairman of the Training Committee, Judicial Academy of Malaysia. Then, all participants were given a briefing before proceeding to visit the Forensic Laboratory of the RMP. The participants were divided into four groups where each group in turn visited three sections and one division at the Forensic Laboratory of the RMP consisiting Section of Physical, Section of Narcotics, Section of Chemical and Division of D13 (Division of DNA). All participants were given a brief explanation of the roles, functions and challenges faced by each Section and Division visited.
