  • Meeting and Visit by Members of The Judicial Appointments Commission at Kota Kinabalu Courts Complex, Sabah 17th January 2019

    The 1st Meeting of Judicial Appointments Commission was held on 17th January 2019 (Thursday) at Kota Kinabalu Courts Complex, Sabah.

    The meeting was conducted for the first time at the new Kota Kinabalu Courts Complex, Sabah since the building fully started its operation in September 2018. This meeting was held in conjunction with the "Opening Legal Year of Sabah and Sarawak 2019" on 18th January 2019, also at the Kota Kinabalu Courts Complex, Sabah.

  • Meeting and Visit by Members of The Judicial Appointments Commission at Kota Kinabalu Courts, Sabah 9 October 2017

    In conjunction with the Judicial Appointments Commission’s Meeting held on October 9, 2017, the members of the Commission paid a courtesy visit on His Excellency Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah at the State Palace, Kota Kinabalu. Sabah. His Excellency was briefed by the Rt. Hon. Tun Raus Sharif as the Chairman of the Commission on the performances and achievements of the Judiciary as well as the improvements of the institution.

    The program is followed by the monthly Meeting of the Judicial Appointments Commission at the Kota Kinabalu, High Court. The Commissioners were briefed on the disposal of civil and criminal cases in the High Court as well as in the Session and Magistrate Court respectively.

    After the briefing, the members of the Commission visited the new Kota Kinabalu Courts Complex and were briefed on the progress of the construction which was expected to complete in 2018.

  • Meeting of Judges of the Federal Court ond Court of Appeal 2014, 6-8 December 2014

    A Meeting of Judges of the Federal Court ond Court of Appeal 2014 was held at the Seri Malaysia Hotel in Kangar, Perlis from 6-8 December 2014. The is the second of such meetings. The first meeting was held from 16-17 December 2013 in Johor Bahru

    A total of 37 judges attended this meeting comprising the Rt. Hon. Tun Arifin bin Zakaria, Chief Justice and the Chairman of the meeting, the Rt. Hon Tan Sri Md. Raus bin Sharif, President of the Court of Appeal, the Rt. Hon. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Zulkefli bin Ahmad Makinudin, Chief Judge of Malaya, the Rt. Hon Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Richard Malanjum, Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, 10 Federal Court judges and 23 Court of Appeal Judges.

    The purpose of the meeting was to review and discuss all proposals and decisions from the previous meeting and to deliberate on new proposal papers prepared by judges

  • Meeting of Judicial Appointments Commission at Kota Bharu, Kelantan 18th April 2018

    The 4th Meeting of Judicial Appointments Commission was held on 18th April 2018 (Wednesday) at Kota Bharu Courts Complex, Kelantan.

    The meeting started with Performance and Statistics Reports of Kelantan High Court by The Honourable Dato’ Ahmad bin Bache, Judicial Commissioner of Kota Bharu High Court; and Performance and Statistics Reports of Kelantan Lower Court by YBrs. Tuan Haji Jamaludin bin Haji Mat, Director of the Kelantan State Court. The Right Honourable Chief Justice, Tun Raus Sharif, Chairman of the Commission was pleased with the presentation and reports of Kelantan Courts achievements.

    The next program then continued with a Project Briefing of the new Kota Bharu Court Complex Site in Tunjung at 11.00 am. Public Works Department and Legal Affairs Division have organized the briefing on the status of the project. The briefing was given by YBrs. Tuan Ir. Kamaluddin bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Deputy Director of Public Works (Building Sector) and followed by a short visit of the commission members to the project site.

  • Meeting of The Judicial Appointments Commission at The Kota Bharu Court Complex, Kelantan 4 August 2016

    The Judicial Appointments Commission had held the eighth meeting in 2016 at the Meeting Room in Kota Bharu Courts Complex, Kelantan on August 4, 2016.

    Prior to the meeting, the program initiated with Site Inauguration Ceremony of the New Kota Bharu Courts Complex in Tunjung at 8.45 am. The complex, which received almost RM100 million provision, will be built on 2.68 hectares area and is expected to be completed in April 2020. The Right Honourable Chief Justice, Tun Arifin bin Zakaria had officiated the ceremony.

    The next program continued with Briefing and Meeting of the Judicial Appointments Commission at 11.30 am. The briefing was given by The Honourable Tuan Ahmad bin Bache, Judge of the High Court of Malaya and Mr. Adli bin Abd. Ghalib, State Court Director of Kelantan regarding statistics on disposal of civil and criminal cases in all courts in the state of Kelantan. In overall, The Right Honourable Chief Justice, Tun Arifin bin Zakaria, Chairman of the Commission was satisfied with the Kelantan Courts achievements.

  • Meeting of The Judicial Appointments Commission at The Kota Kinabalu Court Complex, Sabah 22 July 2016

    The Judicial Appointments Commission had held its monthly meeting No. 7 of 2016 at the Meeting Room in Kota Kinabalu Courts Complex, Sabah on July 22, 2016.

    Before the meeting, members of the Commission had been briefed by Mr. Dean Wayne Daly, the Registrar of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak, Mr. Indra bin Haji Ayub, State Court Director and Mrs. Elsie Primus, Deputy Registrar (Administration), High Court of Kota Kinabalu regarding the improvements made by the Sabah courts in enhancing its service delivery to the public and statistics on disposal of civil and criminal cases in all courts in the state of Sabah. The Right Honourable Chief Justice Tun Arifin bin Zakaria, Chairman of the Commission is satisfied with the achievements of the Sabah courts in disposing all registered cases.

    After the briefing, members of the Commission were brought for a site visit at the new Kota Kinabalu Courts Complex and briefed on the progress of the construction which is expected to be completed in April 2017.

  • The Judicial Appointments Commission Meeting At Johor Bahru Courts, Johor 20 December 2016

    The Judicial Appointments Commission had held the twelfth meeting in 2016 at the Johor Bahru Courts, Johor on December 20, 2016 (Tuesday).

    Prior to the meeting, all members of the meeting was accompanied by the staff of the Johor Bahru Courts to visit Division of Implementation and Auctions, Johor Bahru Courts Complex.

    The next program continued with briefing at 9.00 am and meeting of the Judicial Appointments Commission at 11.00 am. The briefing was given by The Honourable Tan Sri Ahmad bin Haji Maarop, Federal Court Judge as Managing Judge for North Johor Courts and The Honourable Dato’ Setia Haji Mohd Zawawi bin Salleh, Judge of the Court of Appeal as Managing Judge for South Johor Courts regarding statistics on disposal of civil and criminal cases in all courts in the state of Johor.

    In overall, The Right Honourable Chief Justice, Tun Arifin bin Zakaria, Chairman of the Commission was satisfied with the Johor Courts achievements. The meeting finished at 12.00 pm. 

  • The Judiciary Outreach Program Series 4/2013

    Program Outreach Badan Kehakiman telah diilhamkan oleh YAA Ketua Hakim Negara. Objektif Program Outreach Badan Kehakiman Kali Ke-4 adalah untuk meningkatkan jati diri, memupuk semangat kerjasama (esprit de corp) dan mendekatkan diri dengan alam sekitar di kalangan hakim-hakim.

    Program ini dihadiri telah oleh 16 hakim mahkamah atasan yang terdiri daripada YAA Ketua Hakim Negara, YAA Presiden Mahkamah Rayuan, YAA Hakim Besar Malaya, seorang YA Hakim Mahkamah Persekutuan dan 12 YA Hakim Mahkamah Tinggi.

    Program kali ini melibatkan beberapa aspek seperti ketahanan fizikal, team building, pemupukan kesedaran terhadap penjagaan alam semulajadi flora dan fauna dan perundangan melalui taklimat oleh Agensi Penguatkuasaan Maritim Malaysia (APMM).

    Kesempatan menyertai program ini merupakan satu pengalaman baharu bagi kebanyakan hakim. Sehubungan itu banyak perkara yang telah dipelajari melalui program ini. Program ini telah berjaya memupuk semangat kerjasama (team building) dan togetherness di kalangan peserta. Ini telah membuatkan hubungan antara peserta menjadi semakin erat dalam suasana yang kurang formal berbanding sebelum ini. Ia juga telah dapat meningkatkan keyakinan diri dan mengatasi ketakutan (fear of the unknown) di kalangan hakim-hakim melalui aktiviti berpasukan dan sukan yang telah diadakan Program ini juga telah mendedahkan peserta untuk mempelajari dan mencintai alam semulajadi melalui aktiviti pengenalan tumbuhan-tumbuhan dan program pemuliharaan penyu bagi menimbulkan kesedaran tentang betapa perlunya setiap individu menjaga alam semulajadi (preserve the nature) untuk diwariskan kepada generasi yang akan datang. Kesedaran ini boleh menghalang individu-individu daripada melakukan kerosakan terhadap alam semulajadi.

  • Visit and Meeting of The Judicial Appointments Commission at The Alor Setar Court Complex, Kedah 18 May 201

    The Judicial Appointments Commission held its monthly meeting No. 5/2011at the Alor Setar Court Complex, Kedah on 18 May 2011. Before the meeting, the Commissioners called on the Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Kedah at the Istana Anak Bukit.

    The Commissioners also visited several sections of the court such as the Registry of the Sessions / Magistrates Court and the Registry of the High Court as well as the Mediation Corner. The aim of the visit was to look at the various ways undertaken by the courts in Alor Setar to improve its delivery system.

    After the visit, the Commissioners were briefed by YA Datuk Haji Suriyadi b. Halim Omar, Federal Court Judge, as the Managing Judge of Kedah, on the disposal of the backlog of cases and new cases in the various courts in Kedah. The Commissioners congratulated the Kedah Court for successfully disposing of the backlog of cases resulting in the majority of cases in the Kedah courts being those registered in 2010 and after. CONGRATULATIONS!

  • Visit and Meeting of The Judicial Appointments Commission at The Ipoh Court Complex, Perak 15 March 2012

    The Judicial Appointments Commission held its monthly meeting No. 3/2012 at the Ipoh Court Complex, Perak on 15 March 2012. The Commissioners visited several sections of the court such as the Registry of the Sessions / Magistrates Court and the Registry of the High Court. The aim of the visit was to look at the various ways undertaken by the courts in Ipoh to improve its delivery system.

    After the visit, the Commissioners were briefed by YA Dato’ Jeffrey Tan Kok Wha, Court Of Appeal Judge, as the Managing Judge of Perak, and Tuan Roslan Bin Haji Abu Bakar, Court Director of Perak on the disposal of the backlog of cases and new cases in the various courts in Perak.

  • Visit and Meeting of The Judicial Appointments Commission at The Kota Bharu Court Complex, Kelantan 17 February 2011

    The Judicial Appointments Commission held its monthly meeting No. 2/2011 at High Court Kota Bharu pada 17 February 2011. The Commissioners visited several sections of the court such as the Registry of the Sessions / Magistrates Court and the Registry of the High Court. The aim of the visit was to look at the various ways undertaken by the courts in Kelantan to improve its delivery system.

    At the Kota Bharu Court, the Commissioners were briefed on the measures taken to address the issue of cases which were considered old and how those acses were disposed of timely and efficiently as well as the use of Mediation in both the High Court and Sessions Court as a proven method to reduce backlog of cases. The Commissioners then witnessed the mediation process (court-assisted mediation) in an actual motor vehicle accident case conducted by Justice Zainal bin L. Saleh, Sessions
    Court Judge, Kota Bharu. A briefing on the status of criminal and civil cases in the Kelantan courts and the effort to reduce the backlog of cases was later given by Justice Zaidi bin Ibrahim, High Court Judge, Kota Bharu and Datin Siti Mariam binti Haji Othman, State Director of the Kelantan Court.

    The Commissioners were satisfied with the rate of achievement in the disposal of cases that were backlogged. In the civil mattes, only cases filed in the year 2010 were pending disposal whereas cases which were backlogged from previous years were fully disposed of. This was also the situation with the 28,081 cases involving traffic offences, of which all were filed in 2010.

    The Judicial Appointments Commission held its monthly meeting No. 4/2015 at the Kota Bharu Court Complex, Kelantan on 9 April 2015. The Commissioners visited several sections of the court such as the Registry of the Sessions / Magistrates Court and the Registry of the High Court as well as attend e-court launching ceremony.

    On 9 April 2015, in conjunction with the Judicial Appointments Commission’s Meeting, a presentation on the Proposed Design Concept for Kota Bharu Court Complex was delivered by YBhg. Datin Noor Haliza binti Mohd Noor, Deputy Director General of Legal Affair Division (BHEUU), Prime Minister’s Department and YBhg. Ir. Prof. Datuk Dr. Amer Hamzah bin Mohd Yunus, Senior Director of General Works Building Division, Public Works Department.

  • Visit and Meeting of The Judicial Appointments Commission at The Kota Kinabalu Court Complex, Sabah 3 December 2012

    The Judicial Appointments Commission held its monthly meeting No. 12/2012 at the Kota Kinabalu Court Complex, Sabah on 3 December 2012.The Commissioners were briefed by Tuan Ismail Bin Brahim, Court Director of Sabah on the disposal of the backlog of cases and new cases in the various courts in Sabah.The aim of the meeting was to look at the various ways undertaken by the courts in Kota Kinabalu to improve its delivery system.

    After meeting session, The Right Honourable Tun Arifin bin Zakaria launched book " The Civil Trial Guidebook" It has 42 chapters and is a compilation by 51 contributors, including judges, judicial commissioners and judicial officers.The publication was a two-year effort spearheaded by Chief Judge of the High Court in Sabah and Sarawak, The Right Honourable Tan SriDatuk Seri Panglima Richard Malanjum.The three editors of the book are Judicial Commissioner The Honourable Tuan Ravinthran a/l N. Paramaguru, Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court judge Dato' Jagjit Singh a/l Bant Singh and Senior Assistant Registrar Pradeep Singh a/l Argan Singh.The guidebook is a project of the Kelab Sukan dan Rekreasi Sabah dan Sarawak. Royalties from its sales would be donated to orphanages in both states.

    The Judicial Appointments Commission held its monthly meeting No. 5/2012 at the Kuala Terengganu Court Complex, Terengganu on 10 May 2012. The Commissioners visited several sections of the court such as the Registry of the Sessions / Magistrates Court and the Registry of the High Court. The aim of the visit was to look at the various ways undertaken by the courts in Kuala Terengganu to improve its delivery system.

    After the visit, the Commissioners were briefed by Dato' Che Mohd Ruzima Ghazali, Registrar of High Courts of Malaysia, on the disposal of the backlog of cases and new cases in the various courts in Terengganu.
